The Delaware-Union Educational Service Center
The Delaware-Union Educational Service Center, under the leadership of Dr. James Crawford provides services to five local school districts in the two county area: Big Walnut, Buckeye Valley, Fairbanks, North Union, and Olentangy, as well as the Delaware City School District, Marysville Exempted Village Schools, and the Delaware Joint Vocational School.
In general, the Educational Service Center staff is involved in helping all educational personnel, whether they are teachers and administrators or support staff, in order to provide the best possible learning experience for their students through local school programs.
A General Supervisor is appointed to each of the local districts to provide leadership in curriculum development. Special Education Supervisors, school psychologists, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists and other support staff are also assigned to each local district.
The DUESC has a strong teacher recruitment and training program that works to provide highly qualified substitutes to staff classrooms in the absence of regular teachers. Staff members also assist districts in providing a variety of meaningful professional development and organizational development opportunities for their staff and administrators, including training on the Malcolm Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence. The DUESC Curriculum Department also coordinates the writing, revision, and publication of all courses of study and research and produce grant applications pertinent to local school needs. We are also the site of one of the State of Ohio's Educational Media Centers that provides a library of over 2500 videos and computer software available for loan to school district personnel.
Our Early Childhood Special Education and Alternative Educations programs provide a wide variety of learning options and intervention services for at-risk students, students who struggle in traditional classrooms, and families in Delaware and Union Counties. Our Gifted Education staff works with school district personnel to provide students who have shown a greater aptitude for learning an opportunity to be involved in meaningful educational activities beyond the regular classroom experience.
Our communications and technology services provide a resource to school districts in communication planning; media and community relations; design and production of printed materials and web sites; and technology planning, assessment and training.
