Alternative Education Program Newsletter - April 2008

Ventures Academy is special education program designed to serve youth in grades 1-12 who are in need of social and behavioral intervention.  The program consists of scheduled group therapeutic activities, along with social and recreational activities.  The program offers a combination of mental health treatment and academic instruction.  Academics are individualized to meet the students' needs and abilities.

Students enrolled in the Ventures Academy may demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics: 

  • Is at risk from normative community activities or residence.
  • Exhibits psychiatric symptoms, chemical dependency, behavioral problems and developmental delays of significant or profound impairment in multiple areas, including educational, social, vocational and/or interpersonal functioning.
  • Has the capacity to attend and benefit from the therapeutic interventions provided.
