Alternative Education Program Newsletter - April 2008
The Delaware Arts Academy - a high school unit located at 55 W. Central Street in the city of Delaware. Electives focus on the arts and humanities.
Kessler Horse Farm - a high school unit located in Union County on Delaware County Road off of Highway 36. Electives focus on topics related to horse care, horse training, animal anatomy and physiology, and environmental issues.
Students enrolled in the middle school units are 11-14 years of age by
September 1st of the year they wish to enroll. High school students are
14-17 years of age.
Students enrolled in the NOTES program demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics:
- Has a medical condition that precludes a full-day schedule.>
- Does not function successfully in a traditional school setting.
- Has grades well below projected levels.
- Is frequently late or has excessive absences.
- Has a history of family or personal problems.
- Has a history of suspension/expulsion.
- High School curriculum requires a 6th grade reading level
